ImageMy passion with wildlife and nature started with my planting career 33 years ago. I was involved in subsistence crop growing (Key plantation Crops) and animal rearing. I obtained professional qualifications, a diploma in Plantation Management. I have gained expertise on agri-business management and international marketing. My commitment to the job opened a stage to explore and research about nature and wildlife and collect knowledge on how to conserve, protect wildlife and nature. I have participated in several field workshops related to bird identification in Sri Lanka and organized many bird watching events including coordinating the Asia Partnership Bird Fair in Sri Lanka in 2016. I have continuously participated in 6 Asian bird Fairs and 5 International Bird Fairs since 2011. I have represented the Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka in Birdlife International Asia partnership meetings in Thailand, Singapore and Sri Lanka. The decision I took in the year 2005 to divert into the field of wildlife empowered me to improve my knowledge in the fauna and flora of the country and some of my key areas as well as a thorough travel journal of all cultural, heritage, wildlife, waterfalls, and scenic locations of Sri Lanka. Joining the Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka (FOGSL) was a key factor that enhanced my knowledge not only in birds but other wildlife and ecology. My studies on birds and other fauna of the country over the past 12 years have led me to a good hands-on experience of the biodiversity of the island. The identification of birds and their habitats, identification of Butterflies, mammals etc. I’m a founding partner of “WILD QUEST”; Wild Quest was initiated with the determination and eagerness in overseeing the tourism industry in Sri Lanka to take responsibility and to persuade all concerned to join hands in creating a new environmentally friendly nature tourism chapter in the future; with the aim of showing the “duty of everyone to take care of planet earth” by reducing the carbon footprint, conserving nature and protecting wildlife in a most eco-ethical way with expert guidance and a humanly possible way.
